Meg has experience working with both victims and offenders in the criminal justice system. She has witnessed first hand a system that traumatizes both those who are relying on it for justice and those who are adjudicated or convicted of offenses. She will prioritize reforming the criminal justice system in a way that provides support to the victims and helps lower recidivism rates.
Living in the foothills brings with it special responsibilities. With the threat of wildfires always on our mind, we must take an offensive stance to minimize the risk. With climate change threatening the very places we live and love, it is especially important that you have a representative that is focused on protecting our beautiful forests, and working towards a more sustainable future.
With the cost of health care sky-rocketing, many people do not have access to the care they need. Meg has experienced this first hand and pledges to fight for accessible and affordable health care for all. People should not be forced to choose between their medications and meals, or be forced into bankruptcy to pay for medical treatment.
Quality education is one of the cornerstones of a free and just society. Ensuring that children throughout our community are receiving high-quality is one of Meg's top priorities. She will work to decrease class sizes, increase teacher salaries, and move towards an educational system that focuses more on creating a well-educated citizen than an excellent standardized test taker.
